March 8th is International Women’s Day. A day to shine light on and celebrate the many women who inspire us.
At ORESTA, we are blessed to be surrounded by a sisterhood of strong, talented and beautiful "lady boss” women who have created beauty brands that have pioneered the healthy beauty movement. We applaud their vision, commitment, perseverance and smarts. We have asked each one of them to share with you their favourite empowering beauty quote, their favourite product at ORESTA and their message to women on International Women's Day. So powerful, so empowering!
As women, today and every day, we stand together to support one other so that we may rise strong and shine bright. We are committed to creating a united, safe, healthy + harmonious world. Happy International Women's Day!
The Polar Vortex has brought harsh temperatures and chilling winds that are wreaking havoc on our skin. Central heating and radiators add to the moisture zapping resulting in dry, red, chapped skin. Our rule of thumb is that when you turn on your furnace, it’s time to switch up your skin care routine to hydrate, heal and protect your winter skin.
Oresta + Laryssa ❤️
The Laurel Abundant Harvest Facial is finally here and we couldn't be more excited. This unique facial is inspired by our Earth's bounty. It offers a customized approach to your skin's needs with over 50 impeccably sourced vital, skin-loving organic, biodynamic whole plants thriving in abundance that have been expertly blended by Laurel into treatment powder masques and loose tea compresses. By maintaining the integrity of the fruits, leaves, petals and roots in their whole, raw state, they offer maximum efficacy and reveal noticeably more supple skin.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We have all been affected by breast cancer, whether it be personally or with a mother, sister, coworker or friend.
Commonly referred to as Pinktober, walk into a grocery, hardware or drug store and you will find an array of pink ribboned candy, toilet paper, t-shirts, screwdrivers and even a bucket of chicken.... all in the name of breast cancer awareness.
Unfortunately, these pink ribbon initiatives are beneficial to the corporation's bottom line rather than the women who are at risk of or living with breast cancer. They capitalize on the pink ribbon to promote a perception of being part of the solution to the cancer epidemic. Sadly, some of the Breast Cancer Awareness pink ribbon products contain carcinogenic pollutants that are actually harmful to our health. It's difficult to comprehend how a corporation that proudly promotes itself as a champion in the fight against breast cancer refuse to remove cancer-causing substances from its products.
This practice is referred to as Pink Washing.
