WINTER SKIN RESET - Week Two
WHY A TONER IS OUR NON-NEGOTIABLE
A toner isn’t seasonal skincare; it’s foundational support.
Toners aren't the harsh, stinging, alcohol astringent many of us remember using in our teens. They are hydrating, nutrient-rich waters designed to nourish, soothe, and plump the skin. They replenish moisture, strengthen the skin barrier, and help serums and moisturizers work more effectively. Toner are necessary for healthy skin function.
While toners are to be used year-round, winter makes it essential. Cold temperatures, indoor heat, wind, and low humidity pull moisture from the skin causing it to struggle to retain hydration, no matter how good your serum or moisturizer are.
What’s in the bottle matters.
A quality toner should be a hydrosol — a steam-distilled plant water — not plain water. Hydrosols are derived from flowers, roots, herbs, and botanicals and contain water-soluble vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants from the plant itself. Toners can be labeled as accelerators, hydrosols, hydrating mists or elixirs. Different names, same purpose: concentrated plant waters designed to restore hydration and vitality to the skin.
How to use your toner:
Apply it to your cleaned skin AM and PM by spraying directly onto the face. No cotton pads — they waste product. Spray generously (6-8 sprays) - think drenched, not misted. Once skin feels hydrated, follow immediately with your serum and moisturizer and massage until fully penetrated. You cannot over tone. Refresh your skin throughout the day if you feel it needs it.
Toner isn’t an extra step. It’s a necessary one, especially in winter, toner is the difference between skin that feels tight and depleted and skin that feels comfortable, plump, and supported.
If you know, you know and once you experience a toner, you won’t go without it — any season of the year.
