WINTER SKIN RESET - Week Four

How To Correctly Apply Moisturizer

How To Correctly Apply Moisturizer - ORESTA mindful beauty

You've cleansed with a cleanser, hydrated with a toner, delivered concentrated nourishment with a serum. Now you need to lock it all in with a moisturizer.

Welcome to Week 4 of our Winter Skin Reset. This week we're talking about Moisturizer.

Think of moisturizer as your skin barrier’s daily protection. It’s the final step that locks in hydration and seals in everything you’ve applied underneath.

Winter depletes your skin’s natural lipid barrier faster than any other season. We feel it as soon as the temperate drops and we turn on the furnace. Cold outdoor air combined with dry, forced indoor heat pulls moisture from the skin. Your skin is constantly losing water and struggling to hold on to what remains.

A well-formulated moisturizer supports your skin barrier, reduces moisture loss, and creates a protective barrier. Texture matters. Ingredients matter. And what works in summer won't cut it in February.

How to correctly apply your moisturizer

After cleansing, apply 6 spritzes of your toner and massage 4 drops of serum to deliver hydration and active ingredients into the skin. Skin should feel hydrated,

Then apply your moisturizer while the skin is still lightly hydrated. In winter, you can even apply a quick spray of toner again before the moisturizer.

Moisturizer acts as the sealing step: it locks in the water and active ingredients underneath and reinforces the lipid barrier to prevent water loss.

Use a nickel- to quarter-sized amount of moisturizer and pinkie size of balm (adjust for face, neck, and climate). Warm it between your fingertips, then massage it gently into your skin.

Think of toner and serum as delivering hydration and treatment—and moisturizer as protecting the investment. Without that final step, much of the hydration underneath can evaporate, especially in cold winter air and indoor heat.
