The Benefits of Dry Brushing

With cold and dry weather ahead, our skin needs a little extra care and dry brushing can be the perfect addition to any skin care routine.

The ancient practice of dry brushing is excellent for gentle skin exfoliation and for stimulating the lymphatic system which helps move cellular waste and pathogens out of the body and regulate fluid in the body. Dedicating just 3-5 minutes daily can help support your skin health, immunity and vitality.

Benefits of dry brushing include: 

  • Aids in lymphatic drainage 
  • Releases uric acid from the body 
  • Great for alleviating body acne
  • Reduces the appearance of cellulite
  • Exfoliates dry and flaky skin 
  • Reduces hyperpigmentation 

The Merben Body Brush can be used before or after bathing. To use on dry skin before bathing start at your feet, and in a gentle and sweeping motion work the brush upwards towards your heart, moisturize your skin generously after bathing. Similarily, if you use it after bathing be sure to add a few drops of oil, like the Living Libations Verve + Tonic oil to your brush before following the same steps. 

The Merben Back Brush is perfect for the hard to reach places on the back. Dry brushing the back is also beneficial for the health of the kidneys. The action of dry brushing opens up the pores and stimulates the release of uric acid and toxins that are ready to leave the body.
