A letter to my 20 year old self

As I approach my 60th birthday, I've been thinking alot about my fun, free-spirited, adventurous and cute (but didnt know it) 20 year old self. Here is some 60 year old wisdom that I wish that I had had known:

  • Don't Rush Adulting: Savour the wild, carefree days of youth. There’s plenty of time for mortgages, bills, and responsibilities.
  • Embrace your Mistakes: They'll be your life’s best teachers. Mistakes build resilience and add depth to your character.
  • Dance, Dance, Dance: Unwind and express yourself. In addition to improving muscle tone, strength, and endurance, dancing allows you to discover your sensual self. It's never too late - I began salsa dancing at 59.
  • Be Fearless + Stay Curious: Take risks, embrace change and trying new things, even if they're scary. Get out of your comfort zone. Curiosity keeps your mind sharp and interesting and your spirit young.
  • Embrace Adventure: Travel to new places, explore new cultures and meet new people. Open your mind and enrich your heart and soul.
  • Learn to say "No": Be protective of your time and energy for what truly matters. Say NO to people and things that don’t bring you joy or align with your values. Surround yourself with people who uplift and support you.
  • Prioritize Self Care: Invest in a quality skincare routine that Includes daily SPF. Your 60-year-old self will thank you.
  • Don't Obsess About Wrinkles Wrinkles are just smile lines. Each wrinkle tells a story of laughter and life and is a testament to the joy you’ve found along the way.
  • You are so much more than your looks:  Ignore TikTok and unrealistic beauty standards. You are gorgeous. Your confidence and a great smile are beautiful. Take lots of photos. Your 60 year old will love them.
  • Fall In Love With Your Body Your body is your lifelong companion. Treat it with love and respect. Your 60 year old body will thank you
  • Love Deeply Love can't be forced and it can be painful but love with all your heart. Let people know who you really are, be kind and respectful of your and their heart. Enjoy every love story.

Remember, life is a beautiful, unpredictable journey filled with love, growth, and discovery. Embrace every bit of it with an open heart and a joyful spirit.

With all my love and wisdom,

Your 60-Year-Old Self
