We’re thrilled to introduce our first woman in business, Lisa, the owner of Tennessy Willems, a wood oven pizza restaurant in happening Hintonburg. Lisa shares her passion making and sharing fresh food and embraces aging with an active lifestyle and zest for life.

Meet Lisa:

Tell us about your journey and how your business has evolved over time.
My husband and I bought the building at 1082 Wellington street west in 2009. We did a reno and turned the space into a small cozy restaurant with a wood burning oven. My idea was to create gourmet wood burning pizza using as many local ingredients as possible and everything would be made in house with fresh ingredients.
What are the most rewarding and difficult parts of your entrepreneurial journey.
Making fresh food has always been rewarding but watching people eating and loving it is most rewarding. I'm surround by a great community who's shown so much love and support....that feels like such a success to me. The difficult part....COVID and trying to maintain a positive attitude. Some days I felt I was drowning and swimming to shore wasn't an option. But at the end of the day I was still there and so was all the love and support from family, friends and community, so thank you all for that!!!

What do you love about getting older? What don't you like about getting older?I love the wisdom of age I love the peace I feel most days and being able to live in the moment. I appreciate things more, I see more beauty in things and I feel more grounded to the earth. What do I not like about getting far not much just maybe the fact that life is short and I still have so much I want to accomplish and see.

What advice would you give your younger self as a woman/ as an entrepreneur? Be Patient and trust your intuition

What is your go-to beauty product? I use Eminence Stone Crop Fizzofoliant, Laurel single farm hydrosols, Laurel and Kahina oil serums and Laurel Day and Night Balm. I look forward to my evening routines with my Gua Sha, its become a form of meditation for things have changed since my 20's. For my teeth and mouth I love Living Libations Happy Gum Drops and Charcoal Wintergreen Toothpaste.

What Empowered Aging mean to you? It's loving more and fearing less. It's being positive in a world that's filled with negativity especially when it comes to aging....aging is a gift! I want to go though it with grace. There's so much beauty in this world I just have to look out my l window to see it or look inside me to feel it. Just writing this empowers me....thank you so much Laryssa and Oresta for including me in such a beautiful event. I'm grateful to be a part of this community. Fo me It's a gift to be alive!!! I'm choosing to live it to the fullest.

Thank you, Lisa!!!
